Organising & Running a Tournament
THis PAge is currently under development
Bridge Tournaments are either assigned or delegated by NZ Bridge to either a Club or a Region to organise and run. In all cases the Laws of Duplicate Bridge 2017 and the NZB Tournament Regulations apply.
Scheduled club tournaments are assigned to the affiliated club concerned and NZ Bridge has no further direct responsibility for the Tournament.
The major events are delegated to Regional Committees which may delegate them to a match Committee. However, NZ Bridge and/or the Chief Director retaine overriding authoity for these events.
Detailed advice about organising a tournament is available as Part C of the Manual.
Assigned tournaments - 3b, 5b, 8b, 3a, 5a, 10a
This checklist will assist in ensuring that you consider all requirements.
This budget template will assist in ensuring that the event is financially successful
In preparing the budget, the cost of masterpoints needs to be considered. The Masterpoint Fee Estimator will give a reasonably accurate guide to how much these will cost but remember that these cost vary, not only by the number of entries but also the format used to ensure a successful tournament. The format cannot be finalised until entries are known and this is usually long after the budget is prepared.
The cost of the DIrector and Scorer will vary depending on their qualification and the natire of the event. Larger events, with more sessions +/- boards will attract a larger cost. The Director and Scorer Fee Guideline will help in deciding on appropriate recompense. Remember the Director and Scorer may incur travel and accommodation costs that will beed to be reimbursed.
It is a requirement tahat ALL 10A tournaments have a dedicated Scorer.
Delegated Tournaments - 15A, 20A tournaments held face to face.
These major events are overseen by the Manager of Major Events, Bridget Willcox - bridget@nzbridge.co.nz and the Chief Director, Murray Wiggins - murray.wiggins@nzbridge.co.nz. Both are members of the Match Committee ex officio.
