Club Level Director Exams & Tournament Level Assessments 2024-2025

Are you keen to become a Director? If so, we are keen to help you reach that goal.

There are 3 level of Director qualification; Club, Tournament and National.

Assessments are held three times a year for those wanting to become Club Directors and twice a year wanting to qualify as a Tournement Director.

There are pre-requisites before undertaking each assessment.

An on-line directing quiz (Directing Basics) must be completed before undertaking the Club Director assessment.

Only Club Directors can apply for the Tournament Director Training and Assessment.

The online Directing Basics Quiz is available for anyone to attempt. Those undertaking the Club Director assessment are required to have done the quiz and acheived 100%. However it can be attempted as many times as necessary. The information required to answer the quiz questions is the same as that that will be assessed in the Club Director assessment. The questions required a simple true/false answer (or similar) and, in the Club Director assessment, candidates will be required to cite the relevant Law or Regulation.

Club Director Training and Assessment

You will need to be familiar with Laws of Duplicate Bridge and with NZ Bridge Tournament Regulations.

The Director's Quick Reference Guides are a useful tool to assist you when directing and can be used when taking the assessment. The assessment is open book and you are able to refer to the both the Law Book and the Tournament Regulations.
