Volunteer of the Month
Barbara Fitzgerald - North Shore.
We go to Auckland's North Shore Bridge Club for this month's nomination. Not only has this club got an absolutely beautiful setting, being next to Lake Pupuke, but it has one most valuable member in Barbara Fitzgerald. Over to, Iona West, to tell us why Barbara has been nominated by the Club Committee:.
"Barbara has earned the North Shore Bridge Club literally thousands of dollars over the past years. Almost every time she arrives for bridge, she is carrying jars of marmalade, chutneys, pickles, Christmas cakes, biscuits and much more, to sell to club members to raise funds for the club – the list is endless.
She refuses to accept money for ingredients, saying that she just enjoys making the items to sell. Members eagerly await her arrival to see what goodies she is going to bring in next!
Barbara is also always willing to be a helper at our Beginners Lessons and supervised play and encourages our newbies in their efforts to improve their game.

She is a great ambassador for the game of bridge with her ready smile, infectious laugh and bubbly personality and we would like to nominate her to New Zealand Bridge as Volunteer of the Month."
