Volunteer of the Month

Colette Benfield - Richmond.

Richmond Club Secretary, Barbara Gordon, is a big admirer of Colette and gives some of the reasons why the Club Committee felt Colette is worthy to be nominated for this award.

"Colette Benfield is a great volunteer for our club.  She is a scorer, the Welfare Officer which involves sending sympathy, get-well, special birthdays and anniversaries cards to our members.  Our previous Welfare Officer resigned at our AGM in October last year and Colette volunteered to take over this very important job.

At the end of last year, without anyone asking her,  she took home all of our bridge table cloths and laundered them herself. I don't think they had been washed for years and they look like new again.  Colette is always asking us if anything needs to be done; she is a great person to have as a member of our club and is amazingly gifted at making up hampers and baskets for our tournament raffles and prizes, often at her own cost.  She lives a long way from our Club and comes to play Monday and Thursday afternoons and is often late leaving due to being the scorer at many of these sessions.  Colette is also very good at ensuring things get done and making suggestions when she sees something important that may have been missed by others at the club.

We all feel that Colette is very deserving of this special award."
