Jonathan Westoby- Linda Cartner bid as above. 5Diamond-small showed 0 or 3 key cards and 5Spade-small asked for the trump queen. Jonathan (West) actually denied holding it but Linda bid the grand anyway! He received a club lead. Jonathan won, drew trumps and played a spade to the ace, noting the fall of South’s 10. He returned to hand and played a second spade. Jonathan had already noted that South had three hearts to North’s one (a little clue) and then saw North give what appeared to be reverse count in spades. Would you believe North?

Jonathan did, finessed and made his grand slam. Lots of imps on that decision!

Everyone starts playing Teams on Tuesday.
