Babich New Zealand Wide Pairs winners

WINE WINNERS.

Below are some of the pairs who won Babich wine in the recent nationwide pairs competition.

Pride of place goes to the winners, Peter and Jenny Story, who played at and spend their weekends in Kaikoura though who live in Christchurch.

Jenny and Peter receive the trophy from Kaikoura President, Pam Whitehead (left). 78.56% represented

a pretty good evening out.

Gisborne players Elizabeth Jackson and Carolyn McMurray (top picture) would have won the event with a score of

74.80% in many years though this time, they finished second 0.41% ahead of New Plymouth's Karen

and Murray Carter (above).

4th place with a score of 71.13% were Mt Albert's Philip Zheng and William Wang.

At the presentation, the "all white" Philip wrote a poem for the occasion. Fortunately,

William translated the poem into English while club vice president, Gerald Norman (pictured

centre), read it out to those present.

In 5th place were Warkworth's         Our youngest winners this year were Kevin Hu and Georgia Wang who play bridge at

 Joan Gordon and Kathleen          Howick Bridge Club and also at and for Macleans College. With them are Kevin's mother

  Anderson with 68.37%.                        and Georgia's father who are strong favourites to be drinking their children's prizes.

                                                         Georgia and Kevin scored 64.87% and won the prize for the second highest score below

                                                         Open Grade.

            and Tony Clear                                     and Margaret Bath                        from Dunedin.
