Volunteer of The Month
January 2017. David Laing, Nelson
Welcome back to bridge in 2017. We will continue to recognise some of those people at our clubs whose service is so valuable. It is impossible to recognise everyone but a pleasure to highlight a few who help make bridge the great delight it is for so many players.
Our first Volunteer of the Month performs so many valuable roles. Your club's "Volunteer" may "multi task" or just perform one important role. Either way, it would be nice to hear about them. Please send details of any nominations (preferably from your club committee) to me at Richard.Solomon@nzbridge.co.nz

The Nelson Contract Bridge Club would like to nominate David Laing for this award. David has been a member of our bridge club for 20 years and in that time he has been an active and invaluable volunteer

- He is our chief scorer for every night we play bridge: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.
- He has a loyal team of scorers who assist him and his teaching and support of this group has always been polite, calm and reassuring.
- He will come in on any night at our request to sort out any difficulties with the scoring.
- He ensures that the results are on the website on the day of play and with NZ Bridge so that the link can be accessed by our members
- As well as all this responsibility for scoring he has also taken responsibility for making Thursday nights successful by having a roster of available players so that anyone who turns up will be guaranteed a partner .
