ZONE 6 – Asia Pacific Bridge Federation (APBF)

 

This year’s Asia Pacific Bridge Federation Championships starts on Friday 9th June in Hong Kong. New Zealand will be represented in three events, Open, Mixed and Women with the following being our respective teams:

OPEN

Michael Cornell and Ashley Bach

Michael Whibley and Matthew Brown

Martin Reid and Peter Newell

 

WOMEN

Christine Gibbons and Jenna Gibbons

Carol Richardson and Andi Boughey

Kinga Hajmasi and Candice Smith

 

MIXED

Stephen and Annette Henry

Ian Berrington and Fuxia Wen

Sam and Jo Simpson

 

The competitions are a double round-robin finishing on Thursday 15th June. These will be followed by Zonal play-offs for the Bermuda Bowl/Venice Cup later in the year, though Zone 7, Australasia, has two spots in these events.

 

There are 13 teams in the Open field, 12 in the Mixed, 11 in the Ladies and 8 in the Seniors’ competition.

 

Some of the matches will be covered on BBO. Play starts 3.30pm on Day 1 New Zealand time, there being a 4 hour time difference. On most days, play starts at 1.00pm New Zealand time.

 

We will endeavour to bring daily reports of how our teams fare.
